ITINERARY:

8 Days Educational Tour

Day 1: Amboseli National Park

You will be picked up from the Airport or Hotel by our Safari Driver/Guide to start off your adventure. Drive to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is part of the Savannah plains with a high population of both bird and animal species. Amboseli has a mixed topography of plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush, swamps and marshes. The diversity, along with a long dry season, ensures excellent viewing of the large concentrations of African Animals living in this natural habitat. Amboseli offers some of the best opportunities to see African animals because its vegetation is sparse due to the long dry months. This is the only park where Africa’s tallest Mt. Kilimanjaro acts as a back drop while on a game drive. The view of this mountain when the clouds open out is spectacular! Arrive at your lodge / camp in time for lunch.  Take on your afternoon game drive until sunset ensuring to capture every arising opportunity!

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

On this day, you will wake up and have a relaxed time to enjoy your breakfast. After your breakfast, this

will be a day of a cultural adventure! The Maasai have been known to habitat around the Kenyan wilderness for a very long time due their culture and lifestyle of being nomads and hunters. Their rich culture is the one of the remaining African culture’s that not even the influence of the western world has been able to change it. They are known of their distinctive custom and dress. You will visit a typical Maasai village and just enjoy the day as you spent time going through this unique culture. You will mingle with the morans who will take you through their lifestyle. Meet the beading women and learn how they do their beading and their ornaments and meaning of the different ornaments they wear. They will take you through their everyday lifestyle. Enjoy a Maasai song and dance together with them and the highlight of the day compete with the Morans to do the Maasai Jump and establish if you can beat them to it! Lunch at the Lodge and later take on the afternoon until sunset

Tsavo National Park

Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park

Depart Amboseli in the morning and drive to Tsavo West National Park.Tsavo West comprises of open grasslands, scrublands, acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges. Animal attractions here are the BIG FIVE and diverse plant and animal species. The major attraction in this park is the Mzima Springs and under water Hippo watching. En route game drive and afternoon game drive in this vast wilderness. Learn and visit the “Shetani Lava Flow” –  A black lava flow of eight kilometres, 1.6 kilometres wide and five meters deep, is the remains of volcanic eruptions. They were subject of tales among local communities who named the flow “shetani,” meaning evil in Kiswahili, after it spewed from the earth when it was just 240 years old.

Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park

Tsavo East offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush. It has the largest Elephant herds in Kenya. Its major attractions are Elephant in Eden (red Elephants wallowing in the red soil of Tsavo East), Aruba Dam, Mudanda Rock and Luggard Falls. Enter Tsavo East and continue with game viewing in Tsavo East National Park to check in at your Lodge. Later an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day 5: Tsavo East – Mt. Kasigau (Taita Taveta)

Mt. Kasigau boaders the Southernmost reaches of Tsavo West National park. This mountain and the community that leaves around it have a rich history in relation to the Germans and British and the 1st World war! Discover and learn! You will be met on arrival by the villagers and elders, introduced to the community and check into your Cottages / Home-stays. Support their conservation initiative by planting a tree in memory of your visit. In the evening visist the Gae Rock and enjoy the beautiful Sundowner! Story telling by a village elder on the history of this community will be the evening’s highlight around a bonfire!

Day 6: Mt. Kasigau – Eco Learning Experience

This day after breakfast you will take on an ecological learning experience – Mt. Kasigau is an equatorial Rainforest with some trees almost being extinct due to the need for charcoal, firewood by the community. The community realizing this took an initiative to protect the rainforest since some of the trees in this forest were of significant value to the community and the environment at large! Learn about this trees and their usage and usefulness to this community. Learn the historic relationship between this forest, the community and the 1st world war when the Germans were using this forest as a watch point for the British soldiers trying to attack them. The tour ends at the historic viewing point where the Germans had built their stone watch towers which have been preserved to this day!

Day 7: Mt. Kasigau – Village Tour

The Mt. Kasigau comprises of 5 village that stay around this mountain. This day you will visist each village and just get engrossed in understanding their culture, lifestyle, taboos, myths etc. Get to understand from them how this mountain and first world war affected them and their population which is low. Visit a village school and the craft women who for economic purposes weave baskets, mats etc from locally available materials in order to educate their children. Learn the skill of how they do the weaving from start to finishing a complete product!

Day 8: Mt. Kasigau – Nairobi

“Lasting and Extra – Ordinary safari memories” Bid the villagers “kwaheri” meaning “goodbye and depart to transfer either to Voi SGR train station or transfer to Moi International Airport in Mombasa from where you will depart to Nairobi. In Nairobi you will be met and transferred to own onward plans.

What to Carry:

  • A digital Camera, its charger and a downloading cable
